Dumbbell Shoulder Press Benefits and Tips

The CEO of SalSon Logistics, Anthony Berritto has overseen the company's growth from its inception to its current position as a prominent figure in logistics. In addition, Anthony Berritto is a weightlifter who combines his love for fitness with a commitment to personal wellness.

The dumbbell shoulder press is a weight-training exercise that increases upper body strength. The exercise primarily engages the deltoid muscle group. Triceps, trapezius, and rotator cuff muscles can also develop strength due to this exercise. Shoulder presses increase bone density, build functional strength, and improve stability.

To do a standing shoulder press, hold a dumbbell in each hand. With your elbows bent 90 degrees, the dumbbells at ear level, and your palms facing forward, extend your arms and elevate the dumbbells toward the ceiling, then return to the original position. For a seated shoulder press, sit on a weight bench, and perform the exact same movements.

A standing shoulder press is more difficult than a seated shoulder press. In a standing shoulder press, the core muscles and the legs serve as anchors for the rest of the body and the external weight. Those new to weightlifting can begin with the seated shoulder press and progress to the standing press.
