A logistics and shipping executive, Anthony Berritto has worked in the industry for more than 40 years. He serves as the CEO of SalSon Logistics, a leading logistics provider in Newark that offers a variety of services, including contract logistics, drayage, and dedicated warehousing, among others. Anthony Berritto’s company, Salson Logistics, partners with programs such as the EPA’s SmartWay.
EPA's SmartWay encourages companies and organizations that ship, carry, or manage freight to join the program. SmartWay partners measure their supply chain carbon footprint, report results, and benchmark performance, ultimately improving freight efficiency in terms of cost and pollution mitigation. The purpose of the SmartWay program is to facilitate global adoption of strategies that mitigate the release of greenhouse gasses.
Aspiring partners have access to no-cost sustainability accounting and tracking tools offered by SmartWay to gather and report data on their fuel consumption and emissions. Once an organization submits its environmental performance data to the Environmental Protection Agency, it becomes a member of SmartWay and has access to performance reports from other partners to improve its environmental performance and efficiency. To begin using SmartWay tools to document performance, an organization will need to complete the SmartWay Shipper Application or SmartWay Carrier/Logistics Company Application.
