How TMS Streamlines Logistics Operations
The CEO of Salson Logistics, Anthony Berritto joined the company as a driver in 1983. As the CEO, he has grown the company to 1,200 employees and expanded services. Throughout his four-decade career, Anthony Berritto has established himself as an industry expert in the trucking and logistics business.
A digital platform called the transportation management system (TMS) can optimize logistics operations. Retailers, manufacturers, distributors, e-commerce, and logistics companies can implement TMS when planning and executing logistics operations.
TMS enables the selection of efficient transportation routes based on factors such as distance and cost. Some TMS platforms provide information on the potential delay of freight movement due to trade regulations. TMS users can match cargo with carriers and assess freight billing. Many TMS platforms also have functionalities that measure and track logistics performance. Advanced TMS platforms have additional functionalities that vet shipping documents for trade compliance.
TMS is an integral component of the supply chain management system in the modern world. In the past, only large companies that spent over $100 million on freight per year used TMS. Thanks to cloud-based TMS solutions, which are much more affordable, many small businesses are bolstering their supply chain efficiency with this technology.

Car Racing Paved the Way for Disc Brakes
The CEO of Salson Logistics, Anthony Berritto is an accomplished business leader who has spent more than four decades expanding his logistics business. Salson Logistics is now a multi-million-dollar corporation with over 1,200 employees. Anthony Berritto is also a car-racing enthusiast.
Some car manufacturers integrated disc brakes before the ushering of this technology in 1952. Car racing propelled disc brakes to the forefront of auto manufacturing in the 1950s and continued decades later. The luxury vehicle company Jaguar introduced integrated disc brakes in its sports cars for mainstream racing in 1952.
Disc brakes are more efficient than rear drum brakes, which preceded the technology in the auto industry. Made from exotic carbon ceramic materials, disc brakes dissipate heat better, bringing vehicles to faster stops. Since its debut in car racing, automakers have continued improving disc brake technology to augment the features of their sports cars. Four-wheel disc brakes have become the standard for many regular vehicles since rear drum brakes have taken a back seat, and only some low-cost car model manufacturers incorporate them.
